Our April event was a huge success! We loved meeting new people, spending time with old friends, shopping for menswear, tasting tequila and supporting Project Refit.

Project Refit is an amazing nonprofit that helps veterans and first responders with mental health. So many of us had the opportunity to speak with James, listening to him describe all the work that they do. They are community-driven, and provide peer support programs empowering vets and first responders by offering a safe and supportive environment where they can connect with others who have shared experiences.

Thanks to all the attendees and online donations, we were able to raise over $1,100 for @ProjectRefit which was matched by mcfa (@bj) for a ᴛᴏᴛᴀʟ ᴏꜰ $2,225!

-Adding privacy plants can be an important upgrade, but can be costly depending on the size of the plants and the area that needs to be planted.

-Landscape lighting can add a dramatic wow factor to your home at night and also averages 50% return on investment!

-Don’t go overboard with hardscaping (firepit, kitchen) you don’t always get back what you invested.

When moving into a new space, it may take time to make it feel like home. Adding personal touches improves the uniqueness of your home while giving it more personality. However, trying to find a design style/consistent theme can be difficult, unless you know where to start.

-Find your inspiration! – I purchased so many unique pieces while living in Asia and marrying them with my coastal style helped me create a consistent theme throughout my home!
-Find a feature to carry throughout your home in subtle ways – it could be a texture, color (navy for me!) stone, metal, etc.
-Try to find pieces for different rooms that help tie the entire design style together.
-Be subtle in incorporating your theme throughout: choose different ways to showcase it such as art, furniture, pillows or vases.
-Don’t forget to add plants to any style. They instantly elevate any design!

What is the return on investment for finishing basement or attic space?

According to a 2022 study done by the National Association of Realtors & the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, the Return on Investment for finishing a basement is 86% and is one of the least expensive ways to add square footage! An attic conversion has a 75% return on investment.

-Spray paint basement ceilings to maintain height and to give a finished look.
-Protect your investment! Don't forget to have your basement space professionally waterproofed prior to finishing!
-Invest in lighting to ensure space is bright.
-Hire a professional to make sure you're adhering to local building codes!

According to US News & World Report, most buyers want a move-in ready home with current design trends. That includes wallpaper, which is very trendy right now!

Colleen’s Tips!
Add wallpaper to the back of a bookcase, piece of furniture, or built-ins.
Keep it neutral: steer clear of bold prints and colors.
Avoid wallpapering large rooms with busy patterns; instead use a solid color.
Wallpaper hanging is an art, make sure to hire a professional!
