Holiday Tablescapes with Hadden: Hosting + Holidays? Two of my favorite things!
I love hosting friends and family, and there’s just something about the holidays that make it feel so magical. I find having an inviting tablescape makes everyone feel at home as they gather around the table.
Gather Around This Thanksgiving!
Growing up, it always felt so fancy when my parents used our fine china; it signaled a special occasion in our household. I couldn’t wait to one day have my own set! Fast-forward to when we lived in Tokyo; I spent a lot of time sourcing dishes and flatware to create my own eclectic collection of “fine china.” Using these dishes not only brings back fond memories of our time in Tokyo, but it also signifies the first Thanksgiving that we “formally” hosted. We sat huddled around our tiny table in our apartment in 2017, and ordered a pre-made dinner from The Tokyo American Club since our kitchen wasn’t equipped with an oven to cook a turkey; but it was the first time we officially used our new dishes and gold flatware. I’ll never forget that Thanksgiving and it brings me joy to use the dishes for years to come!
This year, I had Madison from Meraki Market in Haddonfield, NJ help me design our tablescape. Meraki Market has a beautiful selection of dried florals in the perfect harvest hues. I love that this display can be integrated in your fall home decor for the entire season, and can be used year after year! The beautiful napkin rings are from Handmade on Haddon.
If you’re local, there’s still time to order your Thanksgiving centerpiece. Email hello@merakimarketnj.com with desired color scheme. Price includes dried floral arrangement and pot. Must be paid ahead of time and picked up by 11/22! Mention “Home with Hadden,” to receive 10% off! Also pictured and available for purchase are the candle sticks and tapers to complete the look!
Disco Christmas & New Year’s Eve Tablescapes!
I love holiday decor that can be used throughout the season in different ways. Disco balls are the showstopper of this non-traditional centerpiece. I love how they capture and reflect light to make the tablescape look magical at any time of the day. We layered them on top of green garland from Afloral mixed in some dried eucalyptus, and added a sparkly star garland. We also used mini bottle brush & mercury glass Christmas trees throughout. Finally, these gold tapers with black candles added the perfect amount of height and contrast. (Disco balls, garland, trees, candles and tapers can all be found at Meraki Market).
The best part of this tablescape is that when you remove the mini trees, the disco balls, star garland, and candles make a perfect New Years Eve centerpiece! I’ve even seen people stack disco balls into a decorative bowl and use in their home decor year round! I hope that we’ve inspired you with some ideas for your holiday tablescapes this year! Most importantly, my wish is that your tables are brimming with friends, family and loved ones this holiday season!
Happy Hosting,
Colleen
